PLEASE NOTE: Since plants are often sourced from the garden to order, sizes do vary a little, depending on how they come out of the ground, but I always endeavour to give a little more rather than less! They are sometimes shipped bare-rooted, but will approximate the size specified (e.g. a 9cm pot).
This beautiful perennial climber scrambles happily over trellis or support on a wall and provides a profusion of bright yellow lantern-like flowers throughout the summer, followed by attractive seed heads that resemble silvery tassels. Provision of shade at the roots is advisable, particularly in very sunny positions. If space is restricted, can be cut back to about 6 inches from the ground in winter.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Very easy from seed. Sow 5mm deep in a compost and sand/grit mixture, June-July. Keep moist and provide some cover until seedlings are established, but no heat is required. Grow on in 3in pots and plant out in a sunny position in good soil. Jan-March sowings under glass (no heat required) should reward with blooms in the first year. Germination usually occurs within 28 days but can be erratic.
