PLEASE NOTE: Since plants are often sourced from the garden to order, sizes do vary a little, depending on how they come out of the ground, but I always endeavour to give a little more rather than less! They are sometimes shipped bare-rooted, but will approximate the size specified (e.g. a 9cm pot).
Mimulus hybridus, mixed
Mimulus, Monkey Flower, mixed
A colourful all-rounder!
A very useful plant for front of borders, baskets and other containers. The flowers are mostly yellow and red, but occasonally orange or cream. Although strictly speaking a perennial, best treated as an annual. For best results, ensure that the plants receive adequate water supplies, and cut back after flowering to encourage a second flush. Mimulus will happily self-seed, so if you don't weed too enthusiastially, you can pot up or reposition seedlings at pretty much any time of year for flowering the next season.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow from February under glass at at 70F/20C, lightly pressing seed into moist, well-draining compost. Cover with plastic or place in a propagator. Prick out seedlings into modules or 9cm pots. Acclimatise to outdoor conditions, then plant out 8-9 inches apart.
