Leucanthemum x superbum
Shasta Daisy
Type/Hardiness Herbaceous, Perennial, Hardy
Flowering period Late summer-early autumn
Height 3-4ft/0.9-1.2m
Light preference Sun, Part shade
Soil preference Moist
Sowing time/depth Feb-June, Barely cover
Welcome colour at the back end of the year - masses of white daisies 3-4in across in late summer/early autumn, held on tall stems clothed in small, rather shiny, toothed dark-green leaves. Perfect for the back of the border, where it will quickly form a large clump. The stems can be rather lax, so light support is recommended, particularly in less sheltered positions. A good cut flower. Also known as Chrysanthemum maximum.

NOTE: Depending on season, plants, when available, may be trimmed back and/or barerooted for shipping.

Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow thinly February to June onto the surface of a pot of moist compost, barely covering with a little vermiculite or sieved compost and enclose in a plastic bag or place in a propagator at 59-68F/15-20C until germination (usually 10-14 days). Prick out seedlings into individual pots and grow on, planting out when all danger of frost is past. Self-seeds enthusiastically, so it is certainly best to dead-head regularly.
