This is a lovely aquatic plant which, in its natural habitat, favours shallow streams or river banks. It can be grown as a marginal plant in ponds, but is generally not suited to small ponds as it can be rather invasive. Clear yellow buttercup-like flowers appear in mid-summer above tall, sappy stems which have spear-shaped leaves. The plant multiplies from underwater runners. Simply pull out unwanted plants to keep the plant under control. Plants, when offered, will be shipped bare rooted and may be cut back according to season. |

Sowing and/or growing instructions | ||||||||||||
Sow in pots or modules containing very moist compost in a cold frame. To ensure that the plants do not dry out, stand them in a shallow tray of water. Move into containers at the edge of ponds or into a bog garden when large enough. |
