Sowing and/or growing instructions
Watercress is traditionally grown for consumption in running water and should not be eaten from standing water such as ponds because of the risk of liver fluke. But it can be grown successfully in pots. Simply sprinkle seed onto the surface of very moist compost, covering with a very fine sprinkling of vermiculite and stand in 2-3in/7-10cm of water. Ensure that this is always kept topped up - the plants should never be permitted to dry out. There is no need to thin the seedlings. Treat the crop as cut and come again. Can be grown indoors from February to September in a light, frost-free location or outdoors from March to August.
