Viola wittrockiana 'Black Devil'
A very dynamic viola with large blooms, near-black with golden eyes. Although strictly speaking a hardy perennial, best treated as a half-hardy annual. I have no other V. wittrockia varieties in the garden, but cannot guarantee that all will come true from my collected seeds - however in my experience most will do so.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow either direct in autumn or spring, or thinly in a pot of moist compost, covering with a fine layer of compost or vermiculite and storing in the fridge for three weeks, then move into a greenhouse at 58-65F (do not exclude light), potting on germinated seeds into individual pots of good quality, well drained compost. Acclimatise to outside conditions before planting out in final positions. |
