Black-eyed Susan, Coneflower, Gloriosa Daisy 'Caramel Mixed'
Type/Hardiness Annual, Half hardy
Flowering period July-September
Height 18-24in/45-60mm
Light preference Full sun
Soil preference Moist, well-drained, not too rich
Sowing time/depth February-March, barely cover
This rudbeckia mixture will produce double blooms in soft but warm shades of amber, copper and burnt rose, with a distinctive cone at the centre. The blooms stand on tall, wiry stems and make good cut flowers. A stunning addition to the hot bed! Prefers full sun but will tolerate part shade.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow February-March, barely covering the seed with a little vermiculite or sifted compost (light is required for germination, which should take 2-3 weeks). Place in a propagator or sealed plastic bag at 68-77F/20-25C. Prick out seedlings into large modules or 3in pots and grow on under glass. Acclimatise to outdoor conditions and plant out when all danger of frost is past.
