Campanula glomerata

Clustered bellflower, Dane's blood

Clusters of deep-blue bell-shaped flowers on straight stems from early summer. A very pretty plant, but spreads by underground runners and can be rather invasive, so position carefully. Note: Bare-rooted plants, when on offer, may look a little untidy, particularly early in the year. Don't worry - they will establish perfectly well! |

Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow thinly on the surface in a small pot, January-March, pressing lightly into the compost. Place pot in propagator or plastic bag, and do not exclude light as this is required for germination, which should take 14-28 days. Aim to maintain a temperature of 68F. Prick out seedlings as soon as they are large enough to handle, growing on in 3in pots. Harden off before planting out when risk of frost is past. N.B. There may be a very small amount of chaff in the packet as the seed is difficult to isolate completely. |
