Geranium pratense f. albiflorum

This delightful geranium, which has a long flowering period, appeared from nowhere! A tall variety with strong, upright stems bearing pure white blooms about 1.25in/3cm across with green veining. Happy in full sun or part shade. Since there are other geraniums growing in the garden, it is possible (although in my experience it tends to breed true) that there might be some cross-pollination; discarding seedlings with a red tinge in the stems will reduce the risk of blue plants.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow in very moist, but not water-logged, modules or small pots, .25in/6mm deep in spring or autumn. A little heat may aid germination, which should occur from about 10 days, but do not overheat (maximum 70F/20C) as this may deter germination. Grow seedlings on and in the case of autumn sowings, keep in a cold frame or sheltered spot during the winter, planting out in spring. |
