Gentian Sage 'Oxford Blue'
The showy, clear blue flowers of this salvia are the most beautiful of the sage family! Grow en masse for best effect. Makes a good cut flower if you can bear to cut it.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow thinly, half an inch deep, in good quality, moist (but not water-logged) compost in a propagator at 18-23C/65-75F. Do not allow to dry out. Germination can be erratic, so don't discard the seeds too soon! Grow on seedlings in 9cm pots, hardening off and planting out when all danger of frost is past. Takes quite easily from cuttings. The tuberous roots can be lifted and stored in a frost-free place in the same manner as for dahlias |
