Sowing and/or growing instructions | ||||||||||||
It is recommended to refrigerate these seeds if you do not plan to sow them immediately. Best sown in early autumn. Nick or file the seed coat and place in very hot (but not quite boiling) water. Leave to soak for 12–24 hours or so, then sow shallowly in moist, but not waterlogged, compost containing 50% sharp sand, covering with a thin layer of grit or vermiculite. Stand outside, where the seed will receive the last of the year's warmth, followed by the cold of winter. Both steps can be created artificially; 2–3 months at about 60F and then 3–5 months in the fridge, sealed in a plastic bag. Carefully remove seedlings as they germinate and grow on in individual pots. |
