Oxalis corniculata var. atropurpurea
Bronze leaved yellow sorrel, Procumbent yellow sorrel
Type/Hardiness Herbaceous, Perennial, Hardy
Flowering period Late spring to early autumn
Height
Light preference Sun, part shade
Soil preference Any reasonable soil
Sowing time/depth , Surface
A low-growing plant with dark, bronze-red leaves and small yellow flowers followed by upright seed capsules, this variety of oxalis, which is perennial, can be invasive more due to self-seeding than its creeping habit, but if kept in check is a valuable addition to the garden. It grows well in stony ground, which lends itself to growing on walls or between paving.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow at any time, direct or in pots or modules, barely covering with a little soil or compost. Can be invasive, so it is recommended to remove seed capsules to prevent self-seeding.
