A blocky-shaped fruit with a mild, sweet flavour. Fully ripe, red, fruits are sweeter than those that are still green. If it is necessary to harvest green peppers at the end of the season, they can be placed on a warm, sunny window sill to ripen.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Some sources suggest placing the seeds in warm water and soaking for 12 hours before sowing. Sow individually into small pots or modules, preferably January-February to give enough development time to help ensure ripe fruits at the end of the season, though sowings can be made a late as March or even early April if grown under glass. Cover with 3mm of compost or vermiculite and keep in a plastic bag or propagator, aiming to maintain a temperature of 65-72F/18-20C until germination occurs. Seedlings must be kept moist, but not too wet, or they may rot. Feed as you would tomatoes, after the first flowers have set. Sweet peppers are best grown under glass, but can be planted outside during the summer months, in which case harvest the fruits when they are red and ripe, but if they are not ripe well before the first frosts, gather them and either ripen on a window sill or use green for a rather sharper flavour
