Sowing and/or growing instructions | ||||||||||||
Seed should be sown as fresh as possible, either outside in autumn, or under glass at any other time. Place seeds on damp kitchen towel in a sealed plastic bag and refrigerate for 21 days, then sow on the surface of pots containing good quality, compost, covering with a bare sprinkling of sieved compost or fine vermiculite. Germination can be erratic, taking up to a year, but some seedlings should appear within a month or two. It is important to ensure that both direct and potted sowings are always kept moist but not waterlogged. Transplant seedlings into individual pots and grow on, planting out when large enough, 12-18 in/30-60 cm apart. |
