Geranium pratense Blue, white-veined

| I have been unable to positively identify this delightful blue geranium, which is unusual in that it has pronounced white veins rather than the more usual blue. It bears a passing resemblance to (and may be the result of a cross with) 'Mrs Kendall Clark', but the veining is simpler and the base colour deeper blue. It is also similar to 'Johnson's Blue' but its habit is less lax. It is possible that the seeds offered will be variable, but all should be attractive. | ||||||||||||
| Sowing and/or growing instructions | ||||||||||||
| Sow in very moist, but not water-logged, modules or small pots, .25in/6mm deep in spring or autumn. A little heat may aid germination, which should occur from about 10 days, but do not overheat (maximum 70F/20C) as this may deter germination. Grow seedlings on and in the case of autumn sowings, keep in a cold frame or sheltered spot during the winter, planting out in spring. |
