Digitalis purpurea 'Apricot'
Apricot foxglove
Type/Hardiness Biennial, Hardy
Flowering period Late spring-summer
Height 36-48in/1-1.5m
Light preference Full sun/Part shade
Soil preference Any reasonable soil
Sowing time/depth Spring or Autumn, Barely cover
The traditional cottage garden foxglove comes in many colours and this, with its warm, pale pink spikes, is one of my favourites! Note: Externally sourced seeds.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Can be sown direct, lightly raked into the soil, thinning to 12-18in apart. Alternatively, sow thinly in a cool greenhouse or cold frame, on the surface of a pot or module of good quality compost, covering with a fine sprinkling of sifted compost or vermiculite. Do not exclude light, which is necessary for germination. Pot seedlings on and plant out when large enough.
