Sowing and/or growing instructions | ||||||||||||
Best sown direct in autumn, not only because a period of cold is needed tfor germination but because the roots are very brittle. Can also be sown 10mm deep in small pots or modules in Spring if subsequently transplanted with care. Keep at 18-23C/65-75F for 2-4 weeks, then chill in the fridge for 4-6 weeks before moving into slightly warmer conditions at 5-12/41-53F for a further 4-6 weeks, when germination should occur. Seedlings will die down in their first year, but a small tuber will have developed and growth will recommence the following spring. |
