An attractive white form of the familiar cottage garden foxglove. Seed is collected only from pure white plants but may not all come true - sowing more than you need and discarding young plants with red tinges at the base of leaves should help you obtain white plants. When plants are on offer, I adopt this method and it is usually successful, but all white plants cannot be absolutely guaranteed. |
Sowing and/or growing instructions |
Can be sown direct, lightly raked into the soil, thinning to 12-18in apart. Alternatively, sow thinly in a cool greenhouse or cold frame, on the surface of a pot or module of good quality compost, covering with a fine sprinkling of sifted compost or vermiculite. Do not exclude light, which is necessary for germination. Pot seedlings on and plant out when large enough. |
