A tall, sculptural plant that ticks all the boxes! The clusters of small, purple flowers, which are borne on the end of strong, branching stems, are a magnet for butterflies, bees and hoverflies. Grow en masse for best effect. Although a perennial, this plant tends to be short-lived, but it self seeds quite happily and is fast to mature and flower.
Sowing and/or growing instructions
Sow on the surface of good quality seed compost, covering with a very fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a plastic bag or propagator at 75-80F/24-27C. Germination usually takes 14-21 days. Grow on in individual 3in pots. Accustom to outdoor conditions, planting out when all danger of frost is past.
